Chan Hin Io empregou a técnica da fotografia documental para registar a paisagem urbana de uma forma fiel com a sua lente e subtil sentido de observação. O álbum, que compreende fotografias a preto-e-branco, está dividido em quatro secções, nomeadamente “Paisagens Urbanas”, “Travessas e Ruelas”, “Vizinhança” e “Armazéns e Lojas Antigas”, e existe como um testemunho verdadeiro da paisagem urbana e da vida quotidiana dos residentes de Macau num período específico de tempo. 豎立於基督教墳場的一百八十多座墓碑，解讀出一百五十多年前中西方相遇的歷史篇章。當時的許多重要人物安息於此。 在引發鴉片戰爭和香港建立的動盪事件中，這些英國、歐洲和美國的定居者及訪客的生死故事，並非僅靠墓誌銘就能說得清，尤其是經過一百五十多年的風化，許多碑文幾乎無法識讀。賴廉士和梅麗‧賴德花了很長時間，辨認消逝的資訊，調查死者的背景。其成果不僅是墳場的重要指南，而且也豐富了有關這段令人著迷的歷史時期的描述。

關於利瑪竇（Matteo Ricci）的研究，若從1615年金尼閣（Nicolas Trigault）根據《利瑪竇日記》編纂《基督教遠征中國史》算起，迄今已逾四百年。其間湧現了大批世界級的頂尖研究專家，出版了一批利瑪竇研究的優秀著作，然而在以往相關研究成果中普遍存在的問題是，西方學者無法全面掌握和利用中文文獻中的利瑪竇資料，而東方學者亦未能全面掌握和利用第一手的西文利瑪竇資料。本書作者湯開建教授長期致力於澳門史、中國天主教史、中西文化交流史研究，堅持原典史料與理論闡釋並重，此次出版《利瑪竇明清中文文獻資料彙釋》一書，旨在將現已公佈和翻譯的義大利文及其他西文的利瑪竇資料與所輯錄的利瑪竇中文資料融匯比證，以求更加清晰、準確地認識利瑪竇及利瑪竇時代，推動方興未艾的“利學”走向縱深。 《利瑪竇明清中文文獻資料彙釋》主要收錄明清文獻檔案中關於利瑪竇研究的專門史料，上起明朝中葉，下至清朝末年。全書共分“碑傳”、“序跋”、“公牘”、“述論”、“詩柬”、“雜纂”六卷，共計八十餘萬字。內容主要涉及利瑪竇的生平介紹、在華活動具體事蹟、著述思想及中國社會的反響與評價，全面展現了利瑪竇來華後對中國社會產生的影響。

O conteúdo principal da edição n.º 55 apresenta ensaios sobre Macau, literatura, intercâmbio cultural e pintura tradicional chinesa.

This book is about the College (today Seminary) and Church of St.Joseph in Macao and the historical period from which it emerged. It is a companion to the previous monograph on the city’s other main landmark, namely, the Church of St Paul, by the same author. The latter book was published several years ago with the title Macao’s Church of St Paul, A Glimmer of the Baroque in China. In the present publication readers are offered a fascinating account of what originally was built as Macao’s Jesuit College of St Joseph, the second most important example of religious architecture in the city. Like its predecessor, it is also studied from the perspective of the history of art.
