The clothing culture of the Qing emperors and empresses embodies the Chinese nation’s ritual and etiquette system, religious beliefs, traditions and customs developed over thousands of years. The hardcover catalogue Stately Demeanour: Costumes of Qing Emperors and Empresses from the Collection of the Palace Museum contains images of all items showcased in the exhibition. The catalogue presents a total of 87 pieces (sets) of artefacts in five sections: official costumes, festive costumes, regular costumes, travel and military costumes, and leisure costumes.
